I hope you’re having as great 2017 as I am! This year is gonna be a big one for mrdapperblogger. I have a few things in mind for this blog and take it to another level and I’ll be needing your help with that.

So, I’m guessing you’re facing trouble as to how to dress yourself or you might be lacking confidence in what you wear. Say no more. It has all been taken care of in here. This is because you never grew up with much interest in personal style, and you never developed a natural instinct for how you should dress. And even though you could find a ton of information online, it confuses and overwhelms you more than it helps you understand. I don’t really know how you feel, but hey! You’re not alone. You are a smart man, its just that you need the right start and the right direction. Not that I’m an expert but yeah, I know things. So you can trust me!
Here are a bunch of tips you should keep in mind and begin looking Dapper!
- Brainwash what you think you know
This is one of the hardest steps you need to take to build an amazing wardrobe for yourself. Even slightest of details, which you think are not important might turn out to be really important and the other way around. So, accept that you may not know as much as you think and take yourself as a complete stranger to the fashion world.
- Start from the scratch
Now that you’ve forgotten what you thought you knew, let’s start from the scratch. That doesn’t mean you should discard of all your clothes right away. I’m sure our society frowns upon naked men going clothes shopping. 😛 But you need to know that you will eventually have to get rid of most of your current wardrobe. I know how hard it is to say goodbye to your favorites, but you’ll get new and better ones which will make you look classy-er!
- Basics. Basics!
Basics are evergreen and you will never get wrong with these. How sure am I? Pretty sure! Anyway, basics are making their way back in Fashion (actually they never left!) Basics is thee shiz today! Mastering basics is not as easy as you might think. It is a challenge, really. And not many men these days can pull off basics, which is really sad. Don’t be like many. Get yourself more basics like white or black tees, dark blue jeans etc etc.. Your aim should be to buy clothes that go well with each other and are versatile so you are not stuck with What should I pair this t-shirt with.. and all that. What I would suggest is cover the basics and as they serve as your training wheels.
This is the only constant you ever need to keep in mind. Fit is everything and this is what I’ve been always telling you. For once, even if your clothes are not apt but fit your body, it won’t really sabotage you. If you think this article is complete BS, at least follow this golden rule, ALWAYS!
- Trim and Expand.
You should know that having a lot of clothes in your wardrobe is just impractical which also doesn’t imply that you wear the same outfit everyday. Only have clothes that fit you, are not washed out and that you like wearing. Keep your wardrobe updated to the trends and discard the unwanted clothes right away.
- Look Effortless not bother-less.
A man shouldn’t look like he has spent hours and hours in front of a mirror to doll up. Rather, look as if you just grabbed some clothes out of your closet. Which is a lot more effective. You want to look good while looking like you’re not making an effort to look good. But, that doesn’t mean you should look like you didn’t bother. Your clothes must still look good on you and they must work together in a way that’s pleasing to the eye.
You still want to look like you know what you’re doing.
- Try new things.
Since, at this point of time you’re developing your sense of style, keep an open mind to new styles; Explore! May it be a small change like, wearing chinos instead of a jeans, you’d be amazed to see how good you look in items that you previously thought weren’t you.
Trying on anything and everything will teach you more about style than reading a thousand style articles.
- Love colors
Even today, in 21st century, we have those old Myths about Men’s Fashion which include Real Men don’t wear Pink, which is completely false and total BS. All their life they’ve learnt is to only stick to Basics, which again is completely wrong and unfair. You need to expand your color horizons and there’s no color unmanly. It is the person that defines an outfit, the way they wear it and the way they carry it.
- Laugh off the Jabs!
It is very common that people try to pull you down while you’re flying high; meaning, as you’re improving your style, you’ll receive a lot of jabs. Which honestly is no big deal and you should learn to laugh it off. Eventually people will get used to your style.
- Welcome the feedback
To be fair, not every person is like the above type. There are going to be people who genuinely want to help you, so be open to their advice. But how do you decide whether the advice is genuine and the person is really concerned? These people who’ll provide sincere counsel will usually be those that dress fairly well themselves. But the best advice you’ll get is from a woman.
- You’ll make mistakes
Take celebrities for once. They often have personal stylists or designers creating clothes just for them to wear, and the clothes they wear are judged under a microscope. They make mistakes, but it’s because they try new things. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn’t.
The road to success is paved with mistakes. You just need to realize when you’ve made one, accept it and move on.
- It will take Time
Your sense of style is gonna take time to build. Years of learning and experimenting is required to get the perfection. Don’t expect to become a Mr. Dapper within a month or two. You should prepare to spend some time on it. Rest assured, you’ll get there.
Change never comes from reading things; it comes from taking action. Slowly but surely, you’ll start to see major improvements. You’ll develop your sense of dressing well and you’ll create a look that kicks ass. And then, you’ll notice that you feel better about yourself, that you get more respect, and that you catch more attention from the ladies.
So, take a step today and boost up your style each day, every day.
